Want to see some excellent video art next week?  Well, following on from last year’s inaugural success, Open Gallery returns with The Open Prize 2011. Packed to the brim with emerging artists working within the video painting medium (long unedited shots with no dialogue [a bit like a painting that moves]), The Open Prize brings together a diverse range of new video works. The winner will be selected from the short listed group of eight and will receive funding towards their future video projects and representation from Open Gallery.

This year’s judging panel includes Stuart Croft (artist, filmmaker and RCA Fellow), Tom Morton (writer, curator and Frieze contributing editor), Laura Sillers (Director of SITE Gallery and former Programme Director of FACT) and Hilary Lawson (Open Gallery founder, philosopher and artist). The award will be presented during The Open Prize private view on Friday 28th October at Shoreditch Town Hall.

Shortlisted artists include David Brazier & Kelda Free, Sidsel Christensen, Susie David, Tania Dolvers, Sara Bjarland, Mark Maxwell, Roz Mortimer and Erin Newall.

The Open Prize ceremony and Private View: Friday 28th October 2011 (6.30-9.30pm)
